Holiday in Wales

There is something so captivating about Wales.  The combination of beautiful scenery,  unique culture and language, rich history and warm and friendly people make it my favourite place I have ever been to.  Although I am there quite often for business (usually once or twice a year) I rarely get to go on a holiday there.  This summer I have a wonderful holiday planned.  Myself, my husband and another couple are going to rent a canal boat in the most picturesque and quaint area of Wales.  The idea of moving at no more than 5 miles per hour through the countryside, stopping at castles and pubs along the way really appeals to me! It's only 3 1/2 months away and I am counting the days!

Shipping Out

On Tuesday evening (Wednesday morning) at 3 am, my nephew, Jason Rucker, will be shipping out to Afghanistan.  Before leaving for his first 'tour' he was sent home to visit with his family.  The past week has been filled with 'farewell events' and no matter how busy it got or how tired you were, you just showed up for everything because it will be at least 8 months before we get to see him again. It has been a very emotional week-end and Family Day 2012 had so much more meaning to us all than any previous year.  One thing Jason requested just before he left was a picture of all of us together.  We went out on the front lawn of my sister;s house and, with the help of friend of one of the cousins, we got a shot with everybody in it.  I can't wait for him to get back in November so that we can do this picture again!!

Bridal shoes

I find taking pictures of brides shoes a challenge because it is very easy to take a boring picture.  I find that the pictures that I prefer, usually have some other elements from the wedding included in the picture.  Not only does it make the picture more interesting but is says a little more about the style of the wedding.  However, if the picture is taken specifically to show the shoes, sometimes it helps if the other items are out of focus do that the emphasis remains on the details of the shoe.  This picture that I found is a good example.




I then took my own picture of bridal shoes attempting the same concept and making sure that the details of the shoe were the main focus of the photo..
